“Suzue” roughly translates to “jingling bell branch,” and it’s California-based artist Sami Gota’s middle name. Growing up around multidisciplinary artists (from abstract painting to mixed media sculpture to Japanese-Californian folk art,) Sami learned arts and crafts techniques and concepts from a young age. These skills were further honed through studying fine art in college.

Suzue Art was conceptualized to create functional, often wearable, artwork that reflects inspiration from the tactile nature of natural materials, traditional folk art, post-modern abstractism, and California and Japanese cultural and geographic references.
