Mizuhiki-Inspired Flowers (はな)

While visiting Himeji Castle, I observed some winter cherry blossoms and, while I studied the shapes, I realized that I needed to develop a mizuhiki-inspired technique, as opposed to following the traditional form in a different medium.

These sakura and ume blossom jewelry, some with the addition of ume-inspired leaves, were born from a fascination with traditional Japanese techniques and the spirit of California innovation.
